December Dance Performances
In-Studio Performance
Pembroke School of Performing Arts’ December dance performances take place at the studio shortly before our holiday break. This event includes all General and Elementary Divisions.
Students will wear their required dance class attire, no additional costuming required. Junior Line, Senior Line and Senior Company dancers do not participate in the traditional In-Studio Performance but instead participate in a Dance Class Performance for their peers.
June Dance Performances
We value the “theatre experience” as a learning tool for our dancers. We strive to provide a professional atmosphere one would encounter in such a career.
PSPA rents a theatre for dance rehearsal and performances. We bring in a professional video and light crew and provide backdrops and props as need for a professional dance performance. Our stage crew is a combination of professionals and volunteers. We allow our dancers to be comfortable on the stage so they can focus on their artistry and perform!
There will be a Senior Company show on Friday, a Saturday dance performance, and Sunday if need be. We strive to keep the show length of our dance performances reasonable two and half hours or less with a 15 minute intermission.
We assume unless otherwise notified, all students will participate in our annual June Performance.
Dance Performances – Dates & Tickets
June Performances are held at Pembroke High School. We ask for the third or fourth weekend in June. These dates are subject to school approval and Pembroke High School approves these dates in February. Once performance dates are confirmed we can announce to our dance family the exact date and time.
June performance ticket sales help to defray the cost of theatre rental, the hiring of a professional light crew, videographer, backdrops, props and a Police detail. Additionally the schools now require a High School representative be on the premises for each rehearsal and performance at an additional cost.
Rehearsals and Fees
There are no rehearsal or performance fees for students. Students will rehearse at assigned times Monday through Friday of the week leading up to our performance. All dancers are required to attend rehearsal week. Students unable to attend rehearsals are unable to perform.
Performance Costumes
Class costumes are required for the June performance. Students are measured in November and parents pick the appropriate size for their child’s costume using charts provided by the individual costume companies. Miss Kathleen is happy to guide you in this decision making process.
Costumes must be paid for in full by December 15th so they can be ordered to arrive in time for picture day and show. The costume order is placed in early January for all students in good standing. Costumes will not be ordered for those with outstanding balances.
Costumes are available for pick up in late May upon receipt of June tuition and any outstanding balance. There are no refunds on tuition or costumes. There are additional fees for any and all costumes that require an exchange due to size. Fees vary for each costume company, minimum exchange fee $15.00 plus shipping.
Performance Makeup
Minimal make-up is required for General Division dance performances. Our goal is to provide them the performance experience in a fun and nurturing atmosphere. We recommend” feel good make-up” such as body glitter and Chap Stick. We do ask that their hair is in a bun and we are happy to assist you with this.
Our more experienced dancers will be provided a make-up list and instruction as to application. Again, we strive to provide a performance experience and make-up is appropriate for the age of the dancers and complimentary to the performance piece.
Junior Company, Senior Company and Team dancers will receive a make-up list and instructions as well.
